Philips Hue is making a bold leap into the smart lighting arena with its latest innovation, the Wired Wall Modules, designed to transform ordinary lighting systems into part of the cutting-edge Hue ecosystem. These modules, which are discreetly installed behind existing wall switches, enable users in Europe to control traditional non-smart lights through the Philips Hue app for the very first time.
While the Wired Wall Switch Modules are launching exclusively in Europe, they represent a significant advancement in making smart technology more accessible. Speaking on the release, Signify Chief Technology Officer George Yianni indicated that, although there are no immediate plans for a U.S. debut, future interest may influence expansion. “DIY modules are not such an established category in the U.S.,” Yianni noted, “but if there’s demand, we might reconsider.”
The newly unveiled modules consist of in-wall relays compatible with various lighting fixtures, including recessed ceiling and pendant lights, allowing for centralized smart control. Users can now manage their entire lighting system—from smart bulbs to traditional fixtures—all from the Hue mobile application, streamlining the smart home experience.
Philips Hue’s Wired Wall Modules are available in three configurations: a 1-channel module for single-rocker switches, a 2-channel module for double-rocker switches, and a dimmer module, with prices starting at €44.99. An additional module mirrors the existing battery-powered designs, integrating seamlessly with Hue's MotionAware systems, expanding the potential of smart homes.

In conjunction with the modules, Philips Hue is also rolling out cost-effective variants of its popular Signe series. The new Play Table and Floor lamps, priced at $79.99 and $149.99 respectively, are optimized for entertainment, capable of syncing with music, films, and games via the Philips Hue Sync Box or dedicated applications.
Furthermore, Philips Hue has upgraded its E14 candle smart bulbs, enhancing their brightness to 470 lumens and broadening the white light spectrum from 1000 to 20,000K, coupled with Matter-over-Thread compatibility. This enhancement allows for direct pairing with ecosystems like Apple Home and Google Home without the need for a Hue Bridge, making smart lighting even more versatile.
With these innovative introductions, Philips Hue continues to position itself at the forefront of smart home technology, responding to consumer demand for affordability and versatility in intelligent lighting solutions.
